Eric Aoki

Dr. Aoki has made outstanding contributions to his profession and the multi-ethnic community and deserves the recognition of this award for enhancing the awareness and status of diverse individuals and groups, for fostering acceptance and understanding between the majority population and persons of color, and for strengthening multicultural and inclusion efforts for underrepresented people. Dr. Aoki is an invaluable resource for countless students, from both his department and other departments across campus, who are looking for a diverse and understanding faculty member, often times mentor, who shares a common background of diverse ethnicity or sexual orientation identity.

Carmen Rivera

Carmen has served the Colorado State University Community, including the greater community of Fort Collins, and much of Northern Colorado through her employment with the Center for Educational Access and Outreach. She has served as a mentor and role model to women through multiple projects and has had a lasting impact on many people. Carmen finds the balance of challenge and support in helping students to deepen their understanding of diversity, whether they identify as a person in the majority population, or as a person of color. She recognizes that all of us have multiple socially constructed identities, all of which play a part of our experiences at CSU.
