General Provisions
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 requires that:
- Recipients of federal financial assistance must ensure that all policies and practices comply with Title IX.
- Recipients must adopt and publish grievance procedures to resolve student and employee complaints alleging discrimination prohibited by Title IX.
- Recipients must appoint at least one employee to coordinate efforts to comply with Title IX.
- Recipients must notify students, parents, employees, applicants, and professional organizations that they do not discriminate on the basis of sex.
- Recipients may not provide "significant assistance" to any agency, organization or person which discriminates on the basis on sex in providing any aid, benefit or service to students or employees.
